拼箱货一般不能接受指定某具体船公司，船公司只接受整箱货物的订舱，而不直接接受拼箱货的订舱，只有通过货运代理(个别实力雄厚的船公司通过其物流公司)将拼箱货拼整后才能向船公司订舱，几乎所有的拼箱货都是通过货代公司集中办托，集中分拨来实现运输的，华东地区的拼箱集散港基本上为上海港。
