Xi pointed out that this year marks the 30th anniversary of China's accession to APEC. Over the past 30 years, China has deepened reform and opened wider to the outside world, and asia-pacific economic cooperation has continued to expand.
As the most dynamic and promising region in the world, the Asia-Pacific has made positive contribution to world economic growth and the well-being of people in the region. We need to implement the Putrajaya vision 2040 and build an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future featuring openness, inclusiveness, innovative growth, connectivity and win-win cooperation.
First, we need to promote anti-epidemic cooperation and economic recovery. Overcoming the epidemic at an early date and restoring economic growth are the most important tasks for asia-pacific members. Xi called for a scientific response to the epidemic, deepening international cooperation, and promoting vaccine research and development, production and equitable distribution.
China announced that it would strive to provide 2 billion doses of vaccines for the whole year, and has provided more than 1.7 billion doses so far. Not long ago, China put forward the Global Vaccine Cooperation Initiative, which provides us $3 billion in the next three years to support developing countries in their fight against COVID-19 and recovery of economic and social development
